Today we briefly discussed Academic dishonesty and plagiarism.
Then we discussed what literature–why people write it, why people read it and why people talk about it.
We started to generate ideas about a universal theme we could organize our first unit around, so that our class is operating as a microcosm of larger society, selecting topics for reading and writing based on interest, relevance and importance.
The class narrowed the possibilities down to the following candidates:

Tomorrow we will go through a voting process to select our first thematic focus.
Homework: bring in appropriate silent reading material for yourself. (Due Friday).
