Today: We read “From the Imagination” written by Robert Walser, part of his series “The Essays of Fritz Kocher”. We discussed the voice of the piece–the way the written style and tone help to create an overall sense of a speaking individual. What is Fritz Kocher like? How is he feeling? What can we infer about his values and preferences? Which words and phrases help to make that picture clear for us?
Tomorrow: We will continue to discuss Walser and contrast this voice with that of the speaker of Gary Soto’s poem, “Imagination”
