English 9 — Apr. 24 & 25

On Tuesday: We read and discussed the story “The Door” by Alex Flinn, paying close attention to the way the writer uses paragraph breaks to help convey the fearful perspective of the narrator.

On Wednesday: We tried writing our own short scene of a phobic person approaching the object of their fear, using paragraph breaks in the same way that Alex Flinn does.

Then we read “The Fears of Mrs. Orlando” by Lydia Davis and observed how the third person narrator at times tells us things that are not literally true but rather show us the character’s point of view.

Homework: Keep up with your reading at home!
